$5,000 Minimum Guaranteed First Place at Every Divisional Tournament
 

Getsy Wins $10,000 On Raystown Lake

Andrew S. Getsy of Hastings, Pennsylvania won the American Bass Anglers Ram Truck Open Series North East Area Championship tournament held on September 10th and 11th on Raystown Lake.

Running out of Seven Points Marina near Huntingdon, Pennsylania, Andrew caught a two-day total of 26.40 pounds. He anchored his bag with a 3.52-pound kicker. For the Boater Division victory, Getsy took home a check for $10,000.

“We were setting on 60 feet of water throwing into 40 feet,” Getsy said. “I used a one ounce jig in green pumpkin color. I was throwing onto bluff walls and steep banks working it slow. It was definitely a slow grind." 

In second for the Boaters, Robert D. Scott of Rutland, Vermont landed a ten-bass tournament limit weighing 22.79 pounds with a 4.66-pound kicker. He collected $1,500 for the effort. “I caught all my fish on an isolated grass and wood in two to four feet of water on a clear and chartreuse wapper flopper and a black and blue Yamo krispy critter, working it really slow.” Scott said.

Ken W. Thompson of Roaring Springs, Pennsylvania took third for the Boaters with ten bass weighing 21.81 pounds. Thompson collected $1,000 for his effort. “I fished about 57 spots from one end of the lake to the other. I used a drop shot, crank bait in sexy shad, and a jig in green pumpkin. I just kept running until I found them.” Thompson said.

Finishing fourth, David E. Robinson of Ford City, Pennsylvania landed a ten-bass limit weighing 21.25 pounds including a 4.35-pound kicker.

Brad Weese of Petersburgh, West Virginia rounded out the top five Boaters with ten bass weighing 21.03 pounds topped by a 3.67-pound kicker.

The biggest bass for the Boaters was caught by Jeremy M. Roberts of Rutland, Vermont that weighed 5.09 pounds. Roberts pocketed $550.

In the Co-Angler division, David E. Blankenship of Plattsburgh, New York won with a two-day limit of six bass weighing 10.28 pounds. He sealed his victory with a 2.74-pound kicker to pocket a check for $5,000.

“I caught five of my six fish on a drop shot. I was fishing 20 to 40 feet deep. I hopped it down the ledges. I was using a 3” erie darter in watermelon gold, and my 6th fish I caught flipping.” Blankenship said.

Taking second for the Co-Anglers, Andrew P. Myers of Arbutus, Maryland who brought in a two-day total of four bass weighing 9.31 pounds, including a 4.06-pound kicker. He collected $600 for the effort. “We went north and I was throwing a new custom stick bait in smoke with blue flake both days just working it real slow,” Myers said.

In Third place among the Co-Anglers was a tie between Hart Hall of Alexandria, Virginia and Dave Ryan of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania. Both anglers brought in at two-day total weighing 8.66 pounds.

David Williams of Fredericksburg, Virginia finished in fifth place with six bass weighing 7.50 pounds topped by a 4.22-pound kicker.

The biggest bass for the Co-Anglers was caught by David Ryan of Aliquippa, Pennsylvannia that weighed 4.58 pounds. David pocketed $220.

Slated for April 2017 the top 20 Boaters and top 20 Co-Anglers from this tournament by place of finish as well as the Anglers of the year from each area will be headed to the 2017 Ray Scott Championship, slated for Old Hickory Lake in Hendersonville, TN
