Getsy Wins $10,000 On Raystown Lake

Andrew S. Getsy of Hastings, Pennsylvania won the American Bass Anglers Ram Truck Open Series North East Area Championship tournament held on September 10th and 11th on Raystown Lake.

“We were setting on 60 feet of water throwing into 40 feet,” Getsy said. “I used a one ounce jig in green pumpkin color. I was throwing onto bluff walls and steep banks working it slow. It was definitely a slow grind."

In second for the Boaters, Robert D. Scott of Rutland, Vermont landed a ten-bass tournament limit weighing 22.79 pounds with a 4.66-pound kicker. He collected $1,500 for the effort. “I caught all my fish on an isolated grass and wood in two to four feet of water on a clear and chartreuse wapper flopper and a black and blue Yamo krispy critter, working it really slow.” Scott said.

Ken W. Thompson of Roaring Springs, Pennsylvania took third for the Boaters with ten bass weighing 21.81 pounds. Thompson collected $1,000 for his effort. “I fished about 57 spots from one end of the lake to the other. I used a drop shot, crank bait in sexy shad, and a jig in green pumpkin. I just kept running until I found them.” Thompson said.

“I caught five of my six fish on a drop shot. I was fishing 20 to 40 feet deep. I hopped it down the ledges. I was using a 3” erie darter in watermelon gold, and my 6th fish I caught flipping.” Blankenship said.
